Are you looking to switch up your look in Dragon Age: The Veilguard? You’re not alone! Part of the magic of RPG games like this one is being able to create and customize your character.

The good news is that the appearance you set at the beginning of the game isn’t permanent—you can change it later! Here’s how you can do it.

When Can I Change My Appearance in Dragon Age: The Veilguard?

In Dragon Age: The Veilguard, you’re free to alter your character’s looks as often as you like. Even if you’ve played through most of the game and want a new look, you’re covered! Just keep in mind that you’ll need to reach a certain point in the story first.

After completing the quest called “The End of the Beginning,” you’ll reach the Lighthouse. This quest is part of the prologue, so it happens quite early in Act One.

Once you arrive at the Lighthouse, your character will wake up in bed with two things nearby: your ally Varric on one side and the Mirror of Transformation on the other. The Mirror of Transformation is where you go to customize your character’s appearance.

What Can You Change?

Using the Mirror of Transformation, you can modify various aspects of your character’s appearance, including:

  • Head: Shape, skin color, and more
  • Eyes: Shape, color, and eyebrows
  • Mouth: Shape and position
  • Ears: Shape and position
  • Hair: Style and color
  • Body: Shape, proportions, and undergarments
  • Nose: Shape
  • Body Art: Tattoos, scars, and paint
  • Makeup: Eye and lip makeup, and blush

The game also offers preset options if you need some inspiration. You can return to the Mirror of Transformation at any time to make adjustments until you’re happy with your look.

Note: Certain things can’t be changed, like your character’s race, backstory, or class. These are essential to the game’s story and character interactions.

You can, however, change your name and voice here. If you wish to adjust gender identity or pronouns, you’ll have the chance to do so during the “The Enemy of My Enemy” quest, where you can make your character trans or non-binary if you’d like.
