In Phasmophobia, when a ghost is present, it makes the room feel colder. But only specific types of ghosts bring the temperature down to freezing levels.

Freezing Temperatures are one of the seven main pieces of evidence that you can track in your diary, and a Thermometer is necessary to accurately measure the room’s temperature in haunted areas.

How to Detect Freezing Temperatures?

Any ghost can make the room temperature drop, but only ghosts with Freezing Temperatures as part of their evidence list will drop it below 0°C (32°F). For ghosts that don’t specifically use Freezing Temperatures as evidence, the room temperature may drop to around 1°C (33.8°F).

However, if the temperature falls even lower—down to -10°C (14°F)—you’re likely dealing with a ghost that uses Freezing Temperatures as evidence.

To confirm Freezing Temperatures as evidence, keep an eye on your thermometer. If it reads below 1°C, it’s a sign you’re encountering a ghost that brings the room temperature down to freezing. Once confirmed, mark it in your Diary as evidence.

Ghosts Linked to Freezing Temperatures

The following ghosts have Freezing Temperatures as one of their evidence markers:

  • Demon
  • Hantu
  • Jinn
  • The Mimic
  • Moroi
  • Oni
  • Onryo
  • Revenant
  • Shade
  • The Twins
  • Yurei

Keep in mind, though, that only relying on Freezing Temperatures might not always be the best method to locate the ghost room. Since ghosts can move between rooms, you might encounter similar low temperatures in multiple locations.

This mobility means that temperature readings alone may not always pinpoint the exact room where the ghost currently resides.

Temperature Changes and Patch 0.9.0

Since Patch 0.9.0, temperature drops are slower than before. Now, temperatures decrease at about one-third of the previous speed, especially in snowy weather. This update makes it trickier to notice the temperature change quickly.

We don’t yet know how the new Blood Moon Weather might affect temperatures, but testing will begin when the Crimson Eye Halloween Event launches on October 28.

Here’s a quick reference guide to temperature indications based on conditions:

ConditionTemperature ThresholdIndication
Clear Night9°C or belowPossible ghost room (Fuse Box On)
Other Night6°C or belowPossible ghost room
Clear Night3°C or belowLikely ghost room
Other Night0°C or belowConfirms freezing temperatures

If you notice your breath, it’s a good sign of very low temperatures, but not necessarily freezing. The “Airball Scare” event can also create the illusion of a freezing room, so be cautious and confirm with your thermometer to avoid false alarms.

Summary

In Phasmophobia, Freezing Temperatures are a key piece of evidence for certain ghosts. You’ll need a thermometer to measure these temperatures accurately, as only some ghosts cause freezing conditions.

While a visible breath is often a sign, always verify with tools to avoid mistakes. Remember, the ghost’s mobility and different weather conditions can impact your readings, so stay alert and be ready for anything!
