In a new marketing effort, Earth Defense Force 6 has teamed up with the YouTube company Hololive to saturate the internet with EDF propaganda.
In honor of the upcoming July 25 release date in the US and Europe of the newest installment in the extravagant third-person shooter franchise, a number of Hololive talents have created renditions of the EDF Recruitment Song.
On the official PlayStation YouTube, Takanashi Kiara, Gwar Gura, IRyS, and Hololive EN Vtubers all posted their covers. The films also show that these skills will be available in EDF 6 as enticing decoys to lure in adversaries.
If you purchase EDF 6 now, you will receive a pre-order bonus of these decoy items. “Blow-up dolls created by the EDF Public Relations Department for the purpose of recruiting soldiers, converted into combat decoys,” is how the item is described in the item details.

The Public Relations Department hired them to look like idols in order to draw in young people at events.
Hololive talents Nakiri Ayame, Shirakami Fubuki, and Ookami Mio made similar appearances in promotional videos and in-game cameos in 2022 to coincide with the release of Earth Defense Force 6 in Japan.
To play the game upon its release in Japan, EDF developer Sandlot and D3 Publisher collaborated with a number of Japanese Hololive stars. This two-year partnership has extended all the way until this month’s western release.
Since Earth Defense Force 6 has always been a niche game in the west, excitement is strong for its impending Steam release. However, given the success of Helldivers 2, another game that kills bugs, EDF 6 may find a captive audience searching for the next big thing.
Earth Defense Force 6 does, however, have certain drawbacks. The cost is the primary one. Helldivers 2 came out with a $40 price tag that was lowered before launch and was generally considered fair.

In contrast, EDF 6 will retail for $59.99 at launch, with a $53.99 introductory discount. Consequently, players could object to the price.
Furthermore, the Earth Defence Force series is well-known for having an abundance of DLC and for hardly ever going on sale or lowering its prices (Earth Defence Force 5 still retails for $59 even after nearly seven years). Weapons, vehicles, and different classes are all restricted by microtransactions.
Still, maybe EDF 6 may overcome the obstacles and become a hit with the support of the Hololive Vtubers. On July 25, the game will be available on Steam, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
