Fortnite has just rolled out its first big balance update for Chapter 6 – Season 3, and players will notice some major changes.
This update, which went live on Thursday night, was automatically added to the game, so you don’t need to download anything separately.
The highlight of this patch is a strong nerf to the Bass Boost item and a buff to the Outlaw Shotgun.
The Bass Boost, a new item introduced on June 7, was found to be overpowered. So Epic Games has reduced its impact to keep the gameplay more balanced. Here’s what changed:
Stat | Before Nerf | After Nerf |
---|---|---|
Environment Damage | 2,000 | 245 |
Bass Energy Length | 5 seconds | 4 seconds |
Structure Blast Radius | 280 | 150 |
This means the Bass Boost now causes much less damage, affects a smaller area, and lasts for a shorter time.
On the other hand, the Outlaw Shotgun has become stronger. Players using this weapon will now notice better range and more reliable damage. These changes apply across all rarities, but here’s the data for the Common (gray) version:
Stat | Before Buff | After Buff |
---|---|---|
Min Hits Per Cartridge | 4 | 6 |
Damage (Close) | 8 | 8.6 |
Damage (Mid-Range) | 6.8 | 7.31 |
Damage (Long-Range) | 4.0 | 4.3 |
Max Range | 2,400 | 2,900 |
These changes are expected to shift the gameplay, making the shotgun more useful in different combat situations.
Additionally, players using Fortnite OG mode will see a buff for the C4 explosive, with environmental damage increasing from 300 to 800.
With Chapter 6 – Season 3 just starting, more changes are likely to come. Epic Games has already announced the next update will arrive on Tuesday, June 17, which may bring more buffs, nerfs, or new items.
