Just a few days after their Worlds 2024 journey ended, G2 Esports reached a verbal agreement with a new support player, Labrov.
Labrov to Replace Mikyx in 2025 G2 Roster
According to a report from Sheep Esports, Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle has been allowed to explore new opportunities without a buyout. Now, it seems G2 has quickly found his replacement for the next season.
Labros “Labrov” Papoutsaki has been with Team BDS since the start of 2023, showing solid growth over the past two seasons. Along with his bot lane partner Yoon “Ice” Sang-hoon, Labrov formed a strong duo, making them key players for the Swiss team in the LEC.
Although Team BDS didn’t make it to Worlds this year, they consistently performed well, finishing 4th in the LEC Season Finals.
Sheep Esports reports that Labrov was in high demand during the offseason, with teams like Team Heretics, SK Gaming, GiantX, and Rogue all interested in signing him. However, G2 secured him for their 2025 lineup.
Is Another Change Coming for G2?
Labrov will be joining G2’s roster, which includes Sergen “BrokenBlade” Çelik, Steven “Hans Sama” Liv, and Rasmus “Caps” Winther, as they aim to recover from missing out on a top 8 finish at Worlds for the past two years.
There might be more changes for G2, particularly in the jungle position. Martin “Yike” Sundelin has also been allowed to explore new options after G2’s elimination. One of the top candidates to replace him is Rudy “SkewMond” Semaan, a standout player from Team BDS’ Academy, regarded as one of the best in the European Regional Leagues (ERLs).
With Worlds still ongoing, it’s clear that LEC teams are eager to finalize their rosters, so we can expect more updates in the coming weeks.
