With its largest feature drop to date, Helldivers 2 has unveiled its enormous new Escalation of Freedom update. Even though there aren’t as many players as there once were in Helldivers 2, this could spark interest in the game again.

Helldivers 2: Increasing the Details of Freedom and the Date of Release

The entire list of improvements that will be included in the free Escalation of Freedom update for Helldivers 2 when it comes on August 6 was unveiled by Arrowhead Game Studios in an action-packed trailer.

The introduction of Super Helldive, a new CR 10 difficulty level, is one of the largest modifications. Those who thought they had mastered their techniques on the earlier difficulty levels will no doubt be thrilled to hear that this is “our most challenging, most relentless dive difficulty level yet,” according to the studio.

The Escalation of Freedom upgrade places a lot of emphasis on mission diversity. There will be larger bases and new goals for both bots and bugs, making them more difficult to accomplish than anything seen in prior iterations of Helldivers 2. Importantly, the new mission objectives are not limited to Super Helldive and may be found on any difficulty.

Without some new adversaries, of course, an update to Helldivers 2 wouldn’t be complete. For those who are tired of the current offers, there will be new adversaries for the Automatons and Terminids to defeat. The Impaler is the first of the bugs to appear.

The Impaler, who made a comeback in the first Helldivers, stops any run-and-gun tactic. Next is the Spore Charger, which is essentially the Charger on a larger scale. The Terminid Alpha Commander, a lethal variant of the Brood Commander, is the last one.

There is just one verified new enemy type on the Automaton side, and that is the Rocket Tank. Although we’re not precisely sure what that means, it doesn’t sound good.

But, on August 6, keep an eye out for the “some other bot surprises we’ll be throwing your way,” as hinted by Arrowhead Game Studios.

The last significant modification addresses grief-kicking. A player is now put into a fresh match with all of their prior loot when they are kicked from a lobby. In this manner, even if they are removed from the game, they still win.
