Pokemon GO fans, get ready — Rookidee has officially been confirmed as the featured Pokémon for the August 2025 Community Day.
The event will take place on Saturday, August 30, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time, and it’s part of the ongoing Delightful Days season in the game.
Rookidee, a Flying-type Pokémon from the Galar region, made its debut in Pokémon GO earlier this year in January 2025, even though Galar Pokémon started appearing in the game back in 2020.
This small bird Pokémon is well-liked among fans, especially because its final evolution, Corviknight, has a special Gigantamax form in the mainline Pokémon games.
Now, Rookidee is getting its spotlight in Pokémon GO’s upcoming Community Day event. Players will get the chance to evolve Rookidee into Corviknight, and during the event, Corviknight will learn a special Charged Attack called Air Cutter — a change from the originally planned Sky Attack, which was already available in the game. This update came after players pointed out the need for a more unique move, and the developers listened.

The announcement followed a 24-hour fan vote held by Pokémon GO on June 7. Players were given four Pokémon to choose from: Rookidee, Frillish, Wimpod, and Lechonk.
Rookidee won with a massive 77% of the vote, showing just how excited the community is for this bird Pokémon.
The upcoming event is more than just a chance to catch lots of Rookidee. It’s also a great time to stock up on Rookidee Candy, which can be used to power up the Pokémon or improve its Max Moves in battles. Some players are hoping this Community Day will also mark the debut of Shiny Rookidee, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

The August Community Day with Rookidee is part of Pokémon GO’s full schedule for its Delightful Days season. This season includes four Community Day events:
- June 21, 2025 – Jangmo-o’s first-ever Community Day
- July 2025 – Eevee Community Day Classic (two-day event with evolution bonuses)
