Fortnite OG, the new permanent game mode, is already seeing changes in its very first season. Currently set in Chapter 1 Season 1, the mode has brought nostalgia but also some player complaints.
Epic Games, the creators of Fortnite, have acted quickly to make improvements and keep players happy. Here’s what’s new.
Skill-Based Matchmaking Added
One big issue players had with Fortnite OG was the lack of Skill-Based Matchmaking (SBMM). Without it, matches became frustrating for many. Players often faced opponents who were either too strong or too weak, leading to an imbalanced experience.
To fix this, Epic Games has introduced SBMM into the game mode. This ensures players are matched with others of similar skill levels. Even though SBMM wasn’t in the original Chapter 1 Season 1, the change helps make matches more enjoyable for everyone.
Bots in Matches
To support SBMM, Epic has also added bots to Fortnite OG. These AI-controlled players make matches more balanced and competitive for beginners.
According to reliable leaker ShiinaBR, up to 90 bots can appear in a single game based on skill levels. Bots were not part of the original Chapter 1 but are now a standard feature in most non-competitive modes.
Duos Mode is Now Available
Originally, Fortnite OG only offered solo and squad modes. This left players without a full team struggling to participate.
Epic Games has now introduced duos, giving players more flexibility. Although a trios mode isn’t available yet, it may be added soon, as other Fortnite modes include it.
Not an Exact Copy, But Close
While Fortnite OG tries to replicate the original Chapter 1, it isn’t a perfect recreation. Modern elements like SBMM and bots, as well as certain movement mechanics, make the mode more in line with today’s Fortnite.
Still, it stays faithful to the old loot pool and overall feel, offering a near-authentic experience for long-time fans.
