Is FOX another possible candidate for the LCK Summer playoffs after pulling off an upset victory over T1 last week? In our preview for Week 6, let’s find out.

LCK Summer Week 6: Is There a New Playoff Entry Rising?

There were several significant changes in Week 5 that most fans probably did not anticipate. Even though they ultimately lost the series, DK was able to snap Gen.G’s winning streak in games, and T1 was defeated by both HLE and BNK FearX, dropping them to a tie for fifth place with a 5-5 record, along with KT Rolster and Kwangdong Freecs.

Despite the fact that these three teams are still favorites to advance to the postseason, FOX has already closed the distance after defeating T1 and KT.

The likelihood of FOX truly shocking some of the best teams is not as remote as one might have thought with the start of the second round robin.

This is due to the fact that the team truly outperformed T1, showcasing excellent plays and powerful map rotations. They don’t have the best early games, but they play well in the mid-game teamfights and are rather composed.

As of right now, their meta read also seems to be rather solid; however, with the LCK moving to Patch 14.14, we’ll have to wait and see whether that changes.

Due to the nerfing of high priority champions like Tristana and Corki, the new patch has significantly altered the meta.

As a result of their new selections and responses to the shifting meta, teams’ values may potentially change. Fortunately for FOX, their next opponents in week 6 of the LCK Summer playoffs—Nongshim RedForce and OK BRION—both of whom are behind them in the standings and, on paper, should be simpler to beat.

Given that KDF will be playing HLE and Gen.G. and that T1 and KT will be rematching in the telecom war, this should give them more time to prepare for the following week and possibly move them up the standings with two wins.

But what we really need to see from FOX is better early games. They already have a strong mid-late game, so they just need to figure out the other portion. Should they succeed, they could emerge as a surprise candidate for the final playoff position.
