January 25th, Let’s Remember a Member of the Community

One of the things that makes TRG great is you, the Deer Listener. The community surrounding the podcast is one to be proud of and one that folks love being part of. It’s an individual effort from every listener to help make the TRG community a fun place to be. One where we can voice disagreement but walk away still loving one another in Christ. One where we can pray for one another and reach out a helping hand. One where encouragement can be shared abundantly. And one Deer Listener exemplified these qualities in a way that challenged us to be better. That person’s name is Bob Merrill.

Earlier this month, Bob passed away in his home due to complications with illness. His passing away has been deeply felt by our community. He was an incredible member of our group and we will miss him dearly. We will always remember his witty troll comments, his encouragement, his humble attitude, and his love for the Lord, the Bible, and Skyrim. Which is why we want to do something as a community to honor his memory.

On Saturday, January 25th, let’s gather together and play Skyrim, Bob’s favorite game, whether for an hour or several. We can all hang out in the TRG Discord server to voice chat, share our favorite memories of Bob, and help new players along their Skyrim journey. Lord willing, we will stream Skyrim on our Twitch channel as well with the same title as this post. Feel free to share your memories of Bob across the social media platforms with the hashtag #TRGBobMerrill.

Something we also want to do on this day, and even the days leading up to the event, is praying for Bob’s family, friends, and church. There will be a time where we will pray during the stream but we want to encourage you to pray individually for his family, friends, and church community.

The one takeaway that gives us hope and encouragement is Bob’s love for the Lord. He showed Christlike love, humility, and wisdom within the community. And now he’s getting to share that love with fellow believers in Heaven as they worship King Jesus together. We look forward to the day we get to see Bob and worship our Savior and King together.
